Special Weather Statement issued December 14 at 6:05PM CST by NWS Chicago IL

Dec 14, 2024

Temperatures have risen above freezing across northern Illinois as
of early this evening, though lingering cold ground conditions
will likely make for a few slippery spots on lightly traveled
roads and untreated pavement this evening. Areas west of the Fox
River Valley and north of Illinois route 64 are most likely to see
a few of these slick spots, so if traveling or walking in these
areas early this evening, continue to use caution and be alert for
localized slippery conditions. Temperatures will continue to
slowly rise into the mid and upper 30s across the area overnight,
ending the threat of slippery conditions.
