Gusty Southwest winds are occurring ahead of a cold front
moving across eastern NC today. Sustained winds across the Neuse
and Bay Rivers were 20 to 30 knots with a funneling effect down
the length of the rivers resulting in occasional wind gusts up to
40 knots. These conditions are expected to persist for the
remainder of the afternoon as deeper mixing occurs ahead of an
area of rain which is currently moving through the area this
afternoon.
Mariners of small craft should prepare for these strong winds and
remain in port until conditions improve.
