* WHAT…Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations
up to 14 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
* WHERE…Southeastern St. Lawrence, Southern Franklin, and
Southwestern St. Lawrence Counties.
* WHEN…Until 7 AM EST Friday.
* IMPACTS…Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
likely become slick and hazardous. Areas of blowing snow expected
in parts of northern New York. Visibilities may drop below 1/4
mile due to falling and blowing snow. Travel could be very
difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions will impact
parts of southern St. Lawrence and Franklin Counties for the
Thursday morning and evening commutes.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…The combination of brief gusty winds and very
low visibilities may result in periods of near whiteout
conditions. The greatest chances will be in the vicinity of Route
3 between Tupper Lake and Harrisville, New York. Localized
accumulations may exceed 20 inches.
